Social media always gets through

This morning I awoke to news via Facebook that someone I know very well has died in her home in Brighton in her 40’s, posted by her family in the USA. Her death which as yet I don’t have any knowledge about directly was communicated to the Police who contacted her next of kin in the USA, and her relatives are now posting messages on her facebook page. It feels very surreal and very numb, because you want to be able to say this cannot have happened, yet it seems probable it has. Writing Rest in Peace seems such a pathetic response to what is so much more than that. The end of a precious and much loved life, at least in terms of the here and now.
